Most of my comments here are US-centric, but apply to other countries I've grown up in, too. Below are some things that shouldn't need to be said, but for some reason, we do.
- Transgender people deserve to exist. This conquest against transgender people is merely a "common enemy" of ideologies only capable of uniting against something and not for something. If you genuinely believe that transgender people should be eradicated, ask yourself why. Is it because you want to "protect the kids"? A vanishingly small subset of the transgender population actually harms children. Is it because you think it's a mental illness to be treated? Then you should look at the statistics on gender affirming care, and how it reduces the prevalence of mental illness which inhibits daily function. Is it because they are dangerous? You should look at the statistics on shark attacks versus how much the news reports on them. Is it because you have a moral objection? Grow up; not everyone needs to be like you.
- Foreigners have rights. Worried about them stealing your job? You should worry about starving or the nation falling behind in academic and technological pursuits without them. Worried about them replacing you? Consider embracing the fact that other cultures exist, and your backyard would be more interesting with more backgrounds. Worried about them bringing drugs to the country? As long as demand remains, the supply will find a way; help the addicted and disrupt the supply chain, don't punish unrelated people. Worried about crime? Give people opportunity to choose something else.
- Fascism is bad, and it is shameful that we have forgotten this in only a few generations. A strong nation is formed by strong people, not a strong military or strong leaders. The nation would be "great again" by enabling its people to be productive, not by amassing wealth to a few, subjugating the rest, and coercing your neighbours and friends.
- Genocide and wars of territorial expansion are bad. I do not need to elaborate.
- Political violence is bad. The US is a hotbed of violence against politicians and political speakers, and between individuals of differing political beliefs. This helps no one and only exacerbates the gap between us. You cannot force someone to be tolerant, and you cannot force someone to be something other than what they are. This can only lead to backlash later.
